Alyssa Campbell, J.D.

Board Member

Alyssa Campbell is a Syracuse, NY native with a passion for helping others. During college, Alyssa's journey of service began while working part-time during school breaks at Transitional Living Services, helping individuals in the Syracuse area in need of psychiatric or rehabilitative support to adjust to living independently. The work sparked a passion to serve and after college, Alyssa began her career as a Program Coordinator managing a local family community center operated by PEACE Inc., on the city's south side.

Alyssa then ventured on to law school in Washington D.C., at Georgetown University Law Center, where she dedicated her time to working with youth programs based in Southeast DC, served as a student-attorney representing D.C.'s at-risk youth population in D.C. superior court through Georgetown's Juvenile Justice Clinic, and teaching law classes and mock trial prep to high schoolers in DC public schools through Georgetown's Street Law program.  After receiving her Juris Doctor, Alyssa returned to Syracuse and began practicing as a Labor and Employment Attorney at a local law firm here in the city. After some time in private practice, Alyssa began working at Syracuse University as the Director of Equal Opportunity and Inclusion and now serves as an Associate General Counsel for the University.

Throughout her journey, Alyssa has remained committed to helping others, serving on a number of local community boards including the Syracuse Northeast Community Center, the William Herbert Johnson Minority Bar Association, and Hiscock Legal Aid. Most recently, Alyssa and her family have started a foundation called the SIMS foundation, dedicated to helping families in the community through acts of service and empowerment. In her free time, Alyssa loves spending time with her family and close circle of friends, traveling, and being outdoors.
