Vera Jones-Howington is a lifelong resident of Syracuse, New York. She is an alumnus of Columbia College where she earned her bachelor’s degree with a focus in Finance and Business administration. She served as a board member at The Dunbar Association for a year and then was appointed Board President/CFO and served an additional six years. It was during her time at Dunbar she realized how important it was to give back to the community. Vera most recently served as a mentor at Dr. Weeks Elementary School, she enjoyed spending time with the students, listening when needed, and offering encouragement and inspiration. 

She is a board member for Clothing for the Strong, a grassroots non-profit organization founded by her daughter whose mission is to spread wellness and clothe those in need at no cost. Vera is a life member at Four Square Gospel Church of God In Christ, she is also an appointed church trustee member and serves on the finance committee. In her spare time, she enjoys watching sports, playing basketball, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her family and friends.
